1. What line in the Her Soul Story manifesto speaks to you the most? Why?

We rise by lifting others. There is nothing more powerful than the human connection and its

effect on us. We become stronger as we support each other. The key is believing that there is no separation. We are all one.

2. How do you define a soul story?

A story that defines who you truly are, your roots, and what shaped you to be who you are

today. That includes: your successes and failures, your joyous and painful/hardship events and moments, your strengths and weaknesses, your vulnerabilities, fear and imperfections. Every single person has a story and every single story is worth sharing. In my opinion, being your unique authentic self and embracing your story and who you are is the most powerful and liberating tool and mindset one could have.

3. What is one of the best life lessons you have learned so far?

Everything is in a constant change. For example: circumstances and situations we are currently

in, our feelings, thoughts (just like our physical bodies) are always in a constant change.

Practicing non attachment and letting go has been key in helping me continue to embrace

change and stay open to what is coming ahead, in other words, surrendering to the unknown.

4. What inspires you?

Selfless acts and any labor of kindness and love without expectations. Also hard work when

combined with passion, self trust/belief, focus, and determination.

5. What motivates you?

Touching people’s hearts and souls through the work I create @modernmalas and yoga

teachings. Staying focused and true to myself in every action I take.

6. Do you have a daily practice that you do not miss?

Any practice that will declutter and/or quiet my mind. Whether through a work in session

(yoga/mindfulness/self reflection), playing the piano, or a walk in nature, it is crucial for me to

dedicate time for myself everyday to quiet my mind and nourish my soul.

7. If you could go back and give your younger self one piece of advice what would it be?

Detach and let go. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Be you to be free.

8. Who is the community you surround yourself with and why is that important to you?

Any community that believes in rising by lifting others. A community that celebrates,

appreciates, and encourages one another. It is important to me to surround myself with like-

minded people since relationships are the base and foundation to life.

Please share one of your Soul Stories with us. (A time/experience that changed the trajectory of your life, and why it was such an important time/experience for you.) What was the greatest gift you received from this experience?

Not long ago, I was stuck in a job for many years that never defined me. I was living for the

weekends and dreaming of fridays every monday morning. Although I performed well in my

career, it never felt right for me to grow in and I knew somehow a change needed to happen.

But I feared the unknown and letting go of the financial security so I just stuck around. During

the last few years of my corporate career, I become a mom to two amazing boys.

Unfortunately, like many other new moms, I started experiencing discrimination in the workplace. Being a highly sensitive person, I knew this could easily break me, emotionally and mentally. I won’t hide the fact that I did have many meltdowns and excessive anger behind the scenes in the first few weeks. I just didn’t know how to control my response to what is happening. Not until I started thinking about my children and how I needed to be strong for them, my mindset started to shift. Becoming and being a mom pushed me to stand up for myself and speak my truth eye to eye. While struggling to balance life, work, and two babies, I had to show up everyday and fight for my rights. I knew I always had two choices, I could either run away or I could stay and face everything until the end.

But then, I kept reminding myself that I had nothing to lose and everything to gain for standing up myself and speaking my truth while never giving up. Practicing yoga during that period of my life saved me. It helped me find clarity and calm during the storms that I encountered internally and externally which were almost daily. Nothing lasts forever as we know and at the right time, the universe released me from that chapter and shortly after, a new one opened.

Today, I am grateful to be able to combine my passion for yoga and love for creativity into

Modern Malas. I can finally say that I do what I love and love what I do. I created Modern Malas to serve as intentional pieces to empower and remind you that everything you will ever need is inside of you. I hope to touch your heart and soul with each piece I design/create and with every class I teach.
